Mediterranean coves, Atlantic kelp forests and overseas reefs, with a different adventure on every coast
El lugar donde te alojas define el viaje. Compara el entorno, las temporadas y el transporte antes de elegir alojamiento.
Two Corsican gulfs, deep Mediterranean walls, historic wrecks, and a serious freediving scene
A rental car is the practical default once leaving central Ajaccio. The two bases are roughly 67 km apart, and a car simplifies early dive check-ins, Campomoro, Porto Pollo, Filitosa, Sartene, and rural meals.
Protected Mediterranean reefs beneath terraced vineyards at the edge of France and Catalonia
Regional trains are the backbone of car-free travel, serving Collioure, Port-Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer, Cerbere, and cross-border Portbou. Bus line 540 supplements the railway.
Cold-water wrecks, alpine walls and clear shallows beneath the French Alps
A car is the most efficient choice for a three-lake dive itinerary, early operator meetings and transport of wet gear. Central Annecy, Aix-les-Bains, Thonon and Evian are walkable and connected by rail, while Annecy also has buses, bicycles and seasonal lake shuttles.
Sheltered Basque bays, Atlantic rock, deep wrecks, and borderland culture
Saint-Jean-de-Luz-Ciboure and Hendaye have mainline rail stations, and local TXIK TXAK buses link coastal towns. Euskotren's E2 Topo continues from Hendaye toward Irun and San Sebastian, with tickets bought through the operator and no long-distance-style reservation.
Mediterranean walls, historic freediving water, and Riviera culture on one rail-linked coast
TER regional trains are the backbone of a car-free trip. Cannes, Antibes, Nice-Ville, and Villefranche-sur-Mer sit on the coastal rail line, with additional useful stops near Juan-les-Pins, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, and Monaco.
Cold, clear limestone passages beneath one of Europe's great karst landscapes
A rental car or team vehicle is effectively essential. Cave entrances, fill stations, rural gites, Cajarc, Gramat, Marcilhac-sur-Cele, Padirac, and Rocamadour are spread across narrow country roads with limited public transport.
Wrecks, gorgonian walls and limestone calanques at Marseille's doorstep
Metro, tram and bus cover Marseille. Public transport is preferable for many Calanques trailheads in summer because access roads can close.
French Caribbean reefs, wrecks and volcano views in one compact island
Outside Fort-de-France, public transport is limited and infrequent, so a rental car is the most practical option for reaching dive centers and small coves. Roads are generally good but often narrow, steep and winding, with speed bumps at village entrances.
Volcanic walls, a historic bomber wreck and a protected coast where the rules shape the adventure
A rental car is strongly recommended. Calvi's beaches and waterfront are walkable, and the Balagne train can help between Calvi and Ile-Rousse, but it does not solve access to Galeria, Porto, Piana or early boat check-ins.
Tide-timed wrecks, granite reefs, and privateer-coast adventures in northern Brittany
Saint-Malo has local MAT buses, a walkable walled center, taxis, and rail links. Regional trains and BreizhGo services connect major towns, but early dive check-ins, tanks, wet gear, and remote harbors make public transport awkward for a water-focused itinerary.
Cold-water granite reefs, historic wrecks, and island-blue Atlantic light
A car is the best fit for a combined Concarneau and Quiberon dive itinerary, especially with cylinders, suits, early harbor reports, and weather-driven launch changes. Rail works well for the main gateways: Quimper serves the Concarneau side and Auray serves Quiberon.
Limestone canyons, granite islands, and giant grouper in Corsica's protected far south
A rental car is strongly recommended. Dive centers, beach accommodation, Bonifacio, Palombaggia, Santa Giulia, Ospedale, and Figari are dispersed, and public transport does not provide a reliable early-morning dive network.
