Most visitors arrive by road from South Wales or western England. Cardiff Airport is the closest full commercial air gateway for many itineraries, while Bristol offers a wider route network but a longer drive. Rail travelers can reach Haverfordwest or Milford Haven and continue by pre-booked taxi, rental car or a seasonal rural bus. Martin's Haven is approximately 5 km from Marloes village on narrow country roads. From Ireland, the Rosslare to Fishguard ferry provides a useful western entry before the road transfer south. A car is the most resilient option for early boat check-ins, cylinders and weather-driven site changes.

A larger regional gateway with broad European connectivity. It is useful when fares or schedules beat Cardiff, but the road transfer includes the Severn crossing and a longer run across South Wales.

A rental car is the most practical transport for dive teams. Boats may depart early, shore sites change with weather, and cylinders are awkward on rural buses. Haverfordwest and Milford Haven are the useful rail hubs; pre-book the final taxi because late and early availability is limited. Seasonal coastal bus services, including the Puffin Shuttle corridor, can help walkers reach Marloes and Martin's Haven, but timetables are not designed around dive kit or last-minute charter changes. Roads near Marloes are narrow, so allow room for farm traffic and cyclists.
The destination is in Wales and follows United Kingdom immigration rules. British and Irish citizens do not need a visa or ETA for ordinary entry. Other travelers must use the official GOV.UK checker because the answer depends on nationality, passport, residence status and trip purpose. Many non-visa nationals require an Electronic Travel Authorisation before travel; others require a Standard Visitor visa. Carry the passport used for the ETA or visa and verify requirements again before departure, because eligibility and fees can change.
Reserve cylinders, nitrox, weights and rental exposure protection with the operator before arrival. Ask exactly where fills are collected, whether the charter price includes gas, and whether a twinset, sidemount or rebreather needs separate approval. Dive boats range from RIB-style operations to hardboats; storage, ladders and lift arrangements differ. Label every bag, minimize loose deck equipment and bring spares for masks, straps, drysuit seals and charging cables. Airlines may require batteries in hand luggage and cylinders fully depressurized with valves removed. After the trip, keep wet gear contained in accommodation and never rinse salt water into sensitive freshwater drains without permission.

Cards and contactless payments are widely used in towns, accommodation and established operators. Carry some cash for small rural facilities, private-landing procedures or weak-signal payment terminals, but confirm the accepted method in advance.
ATMs are easiest to find in Haverfordwest, Milford Haven and larger settlements. Marloes, St Brides and Martin's Haven should not be treated as reliable cash-withdrawal points, so obtain cash before the final rural leg.

International visitors should carry travel insurance that explicitly covers scuba or freediving to the planned depth, cold-water boat operations, search and rescue, medical evacuation, recompression and cancellation caused by weather. UK residents still benefit from specialist dive cover because normal health access does not reimburse every rescue, travel or equipment loss. An EHIC or GHIC is not a substitute for activity insurance.
