About Black Rock - Hawaii
Black Rock is the iconic lava point at the north end of Ka'anapali Beach, combining an easy beach entry with a rocky reef that draws sea turtles, reef fish, and heavy in-water traffic. Most dives and snorkel sessions stay close to the beach-side of the rock and the reef ledges, where the slope is gentle, turtle encounters are common, and the route is simple enough for relaxed shore diving. The site is popular because it is accessible, scenic, and productive, not because it is especially sheltered. Conditions are usually best in the morning before wind and crowding build, and the point itself deserves respect because current, chop, and people jumping from the rock can all change the feel of the dive quickly.
