Gorgonian walls in Scilla, sunlit reefs at Capo Vaticano, and cliff towns between dives

Scilla Diving Center and Megale Hellas describe a current-led Strait environment where reefs can continue toward 60 m and expert timing matters. The most recognizable dive is La Montagna di Scilla, a shore-accessed pinnacle with dense red, yellow and bicolor gorgonians. Around Tropea and Capo Vaticano, Piloto Diving Service lists a wider recreational portfolio: shallow Vadaro, Posidonia-rich Formicoli, the natural arch at Santa Irene, Galea - Santa Maria - Ricadi and the U Vapuri wreck. This is an excellent Mediterranean combination for divers who want both high-energy walls and easier reef days, provided named sites remain conditional on tides and weather.
A castleside Scilla profile that complements La Montagna with rocky slope, wall scenery and immediate access to the Strait's currentfed ecosystem.
An emergent rock off Santa Maria di Ricadi with an easy nominal depth near {{ 19 | distance:m }}.
Scilla's emblematic shore dive reaches a submerged pinnacle whose upper route begins around {{ 18 | distance:m }}.
An advanced Strait of Messina extension north of Scilla for teams seeking wreck history beyond the core reefs.
Checkliste für Anbieter
Plan multiple dive days in each subregion and allow the operator to choose the site after reviewing tide, current and weather. A two-base trip avoids long pre-dawn transfers with gear. Before paying, confirm minimum certification, recency expectations, Nitrox availability, valve compatibility, boat ladders, oxygen provision, rental sizing, wreck-penetration policy and whether transport from the accommodation is included. Carry certification cards, a computer, SMB and spool. Do not pressure a center to run La Montagna, Galea or a wreck when conditions point elsewhere.
