Split Airport is normally the most convenient gateway for Rogoznica, Primosten, Sibenik, and Murter. Zadar Airport is a strong alternative for Murter and Sibenik, especially when its seasonal flight pattern fits better. Road times vary sharply with summer traffic, so leave a wide buffer for Saturday changeovers and airport departures.

Kornati itself has no normal scheduled passenger ferry that serves the core dive zones. Access is by authorized dive boat, excursion vessel, charter, or private boat carrying the required park ticket.

The primary gateway for the southern half of the destination, with official airport shuttle and ground-transport information. Road access reaches Rogoznica first, then Primosten, Sibenik, and Murter.

A practical northern gateway with official car, bus, shuttle, and 24-hour taxi information. It is especially competitive for Murter, with longer road transfers to Primosten and Rogoznica.

A rental car is the most efficient option for dive bags, split-base itineraries, Krka, airport transfers, and weather-day changes. Parking is constrained in old Sibenik, Primosten, and peak-summer beach areas, so use accommodation parking or municipal lots and walk the final section.
Regional buses connect the main coastal towns, but they are less convenient for early dive check-ins, late returns, and equipment. Taxis and pre-booked transfers work for one-base trips. Passenger ferries from Sibenik serve inhabited islands on seasonal timetables. Murter is connected to the mainland by bridge, so no car ferry is required.
Croatia is in the Schengen Area. EU, EEA, and Swiss travelers should carry the identity document required by their nationality. Other travelers must check the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the official EU portal for visa status, passport validity, permitted stay, and border procedure. A common non-EU rule is a passport issued within the previous 10 years and valid for at least 3 months after the intended departure, but nationality-specific exceptions apply.
At the research date, the Entry/Exit System was fully operational for relevant non-EU short-stay travelers. ETIAS was not yet accepting applications, with its exact launch date still to be officially announced. Recheck the official EU site before departure and avoid third-party authorization websites.
Reserve rental equipment and cylinders with the operator rather than assuming a retail dive shop carries every replacement part. A Croatia planning source notes that dive centers may rent gear without maintaining a broad equipment-sales inventory.
Pack regulators, computer, prescription mask, exposure protection, and uncommon spares in the most protected baggage permitted by the airline. Ask the operator about DIN or yoke valves, cylinder size, nitrox, technical gases, rebreather support, weights, and drying space. Do not carry cylinders or weights by air.
For boat days, use a compact crate or soft bag, label every item, and bring a windproof layer, dry clothes, water, snacks, seasickness prevention, certification, insurance details, and any required medical clearance. Allow equipment to dry before the return flight.
Euro (EUR)
Cards are widely accepted in towns, dive centers, larger restaurants, marinas, and fuel stations. Carry some cash for small island konobas, parking, tips, and backup. When a terminal offers conversion into a home currency, compare the rate before accepting.
ATMs are common in Sibenik, Primosten, Rogoznica, Murter, and larger marina areas, but sparse on small islands. Use bank-operated machines when possible and withdraw before a full-day archipelago trip.
230V • 50Hz • C, F
Travelers from other socket systems need an adapter. Most modern chargers are dual voltage, but verify the label before connecting. Bring a compact power strip only if it is approved for 230V.
Kommunikation
Mobile coverage is generally strong in the coastal towns but can weaken among outer islands, cliffs, and remote channels. Download maps, park tickets, ferry details, operator contacts, and insurance documents before departure. EU roaming generally applies to eligible EU plans under the subscriber's fair-use terms; other travelers should compare an eSIM or Croatian SIM.
VHF and emergency communications on boats are the operator's responsibility. A phone in a dry pouch is useful backup but is not a substitute for the vessel's working marine communication and location equipment.
Sprache
Croatian is the official language. English is widely used by dive operators, marinas, hotels, and tourism businesses; German and Italian are also common in the coastal visitor economy. Learn basic greetings and clarify technical dive terms during the briefing rather than relying on assumptions.
Versicherung
Carry comprehensive travel and dive insurance covering the planned maximum depth, wreck or technical activity, recompression treatment, maritime or helicopter evacuation, trip interruption, and repatriation. Check whether freediving training and non-competitive depth sessions are covered separately.
Keep the policy number, emergency line, medical declaration, medication list, and next-of-kin details offline. The European Health Insurance Card can support eligible public healthcare for covered travelers but does not replace evacuation or dive-specific protection.
