A trip to Fernando de Noronha comes with two main mandatory costs beyond flights and accommodation: the daily environmental preservation tax charged per person per night on the island and the Marine National Park pass that grants access to most beaches, trails and tidal pools. Both fees support conservation and visitor management and are actively checked at airports, park entrances and some tour desks. Budget for these from the outset to avoid surprises, and always verify up to date amounts because rates are periodically adjusted for inflation.

| Environmental Preservation Tax (TPA) | Around BRL R$100+ per person per day (rising gradually each year) Charged per person, per night spent on the island | All non resident visitors | Online via the official Fernando de Noronha or Pernambuco government portal, or at the payment desk in the airport on arrival | The exact amount is calculated on a sliding scale, increasing with length of stay. Keep your payment receipt or QR code accessible, as accommodations and officials may ask for proof. The fee underpins many of the island's conservation and infrastructure efforts and is part of what enables strict visitor caps. |
| Fernando de Noronha Marine National Park pass (ICMBio) | Approx BRL R$330 for foreign visitors, BRL R$165 for Brazilians 10 consecutive days from first use | Visitors accessing park beaches and trails such as Baia do Sancho, Baia dos Porcos, Praia do Leao, Baia do Sueste and Atalaia pools | Online through parnanoronha.com.br or at ICMBio visitor centers and Points of Information and Control (PIC) on the island | The park pass is checked at turnstiles and trailheads and is required in addition to the environmental tax. Once you have the pass number you can book time slots for limited access sites like Atalaia and certain guided trails. Always carry ID alongside the pass. |
| Guided trails and natural pool reservations | Varies by trail and operator (often small guiding fee on top of park pass) Per guided outing or time slot | Atalaia pools and several longer trails that require certified guides | Booked through ICMBio reservation system or via licensed local guides and tour agencies | Some of the most coveted experiences, such as Atalaia Pontinha and advanced hiking routes, require both a park pass and a pre booked guided slot. Groups and time in the water are strictly limited to reduce impact, so advance reservations are essential in high season. |
