Skomer rewards experienced UK divers with tide-timed walls, jewel-anemone reefs, seal encounters and the deep MV Lucy, while St Brides Haven gives West Wales Dive Company and other local instructors a sheltered fallback for training and skills refreshers. The best trip is deliberately flexible: reserve a charter, share honest experience limits, and accept that the skipper may replace an exposed Skomer objective with a safer bay or mainland site. Cold-water comfort, DSMB competence and disciplined boat procedures matter more than collecting a fixed site list.
