Semporna gives you a rare two-for-one: Sipadan's advanced wall dives and pelagic action, plus Mabul and Kapalai's beginner-friendly reefs and macro hunting. Many travelers base in Semporna town for flexibility, while island stays like Sipadan-Mabul Resort, Borneo Divers Mabul Resort, or the Seaventures Dive Rig make early departures and dusk dives easy. Typical water temperature is around 27°C to 29°C, with visibility often reported near 30 m on good days, but it can drop after heavy rain or wind. Treat Sipadan as the headline act and fill the rest of the week with Mabul and Kapalai so every day is worth the boat ride.
Sipadan's headline corner for schooling chevron barracuda and jacks.
A wall dive reported around 15 m to 40 m where whitetip reef sharks are a signature.
A photogenic wall with mixed hard and soft corals and a depth range commonly listed around 5 m to 40 m.
Shallow reef and sand slopes around Kapalai that suit relaxed dives and critter hunting.
A gentle, beginner-friendly Mabul reef that starts shallow (about 5 m) and can become a drift dive with tide-driven current.
A vibrant shallow reef suitable for newer divers and refresher dives, with colorful reef fish and a chance of turtles.
A dramatic wall that begins close to shore and plunges into the blue.
An advanced Sipadan wall with strong currents that can concentrate pelagics.
An advanced overhead site with reported chambers around 18 m to 21 m.
