One who knows how to judge the entry as it isn't marked, and how to work with the boat captain to keep divers safe in currents on the surface. Gordo Banks es un monte submarino mar adentro frente a San Jose del Cabo, donde los buceadores descienden en aguas azules hasta la cima de un pináculo profundo y encuentros en estaciones de limpieza para pelágicos. Se bucea por cardúmenes de tiburones martillo y otros encuentros en mar abierto, más que por una estructura de arrecife relajada, así que la jornada depende mucho de la corriente, las condiciones en superficie, de si el banco es apto para bucearse ese día y del criterio del operador.

Diving in Los Cabos is seasonal. So we have every kind of condition here. It can be warm, blue, calm in late summer to fall. Spring is windy, choppy and cold and can offer lower visibility. The wildllife prefer the latter! So you can dive here all year, with the right safety check out.

Gordo Banks is a boat-only offshore dive that should be treated as guide-gated rather than a casual independent site. Many operators require prior experience checks and will skip it when current, wind, or surface pickup conditions are not acceptable.
