Punta Venado

Punta Venado is a strong-current drift reef south of Playa del Carmen, with a sandy and rocky bottom covered by coral and a wide mix of tropical reef life. The site is usually dived as a boat drop in deeper water, so it suits divers who want a current-aware route rather than a relaxed reef stroll. Winter can add seasonal shark interest, but the main draw is the combination of clear water, hard coral and a classic drift profile.
