Capo Carbonara is a protected granite-realm destination rather than a coral-reef substitute. Local day boats from Villasimius reach Secca di Santa Caterina, Punta Nord di Serpentara, Parete delle Gorgonie, Madonna del Naufrago, and Relitto Egle. The attraction is the combination: Posidonia nurseries, boulder mazes, drop-offs, schooling barracuda and dentex, groupers, archaeology, and deeper gorgonian color. Book an MPA-authorized Villasimius dive center and send certification, recent-dive history, equipment sizes, and any medical questionnaire early. Ask whether the quoted package includes marine-reserve access, tanks, weights, equipment, boat transfers, and the operator's authorization costs. Build a priority list by experience rather than demanding one site on one date, because wind, current, visibility, and reserve operations drive route selection. Carry certification and a logbook. Do not touch, collect, feed, enter natural caves, anchor on Posidonia, or move archaeological objects. Maintain horizontal trim above meadow and gorgonian habitat, follow the operator's mooring and depth limits, and deploy an SMB when instructed.
