Do I need a local operator for South Rock?

Yes. South Rock is a boat site, so plan to book with a local Ainan dive operator rather than trying to self-access it.

How hard is South Rock?

It is best for advanced divers who are comfortable with exposed terrain, weather-sensitive boat access, and steady buoyancy along rocky relief.

How is visibility at South Rock?

Recent operator reports put workable visibility around 8-12 m, with clearer blue water on better days.

Is South Rock a current dive?

Not primarily. Sea state and swell are the bigger factors, so calmer days are the more comfortable choice.

What access does South Rock have?

It is serviced by local Ainan boat operators, and the dive base has parking, showers, dock loading, and rinse and dry space.

What kind of dive is South Rock?

South Rock is a boat-accessed scuba site on a wave-cut rocky slope with terraces and steep drop-offs. It is a contour-style dive rather than a flat reef drift.

What marine life can I expect at South Rock?

Macro subjects are the draw: pygmy seahorses, frogfish, nudibranchs, shrimps, and other small life, with occasional larger fish, turtles, rays, or sharks passing through.

When is the best time to dive South Rock?

Autumn is a strong season, and calmer late-summer days can also bring good blue water and workable visibility.
