How do you access Lost Anchor, Mauritius?

By boat from north-coast dive centers around Grand Baie and Cap Malheureux. There is no practical shore-entry option.

Is Lost Anchor, Mauritius a good photo dive?

Yes, especially for wide shots of the anchor and fans plus close-focus macro around the coral heads, though the deeper profile means light falls off sooner.

Is Lost Anchor, Mauritius suitable for intermediate divers?

Yes. It fits divers comfortable with a guided boat dive and a mid-depth profile, but it is not the site I would pick for a first ocean dive.

What conditions should I expect at Lost Anchor, Mauritius?

Plan on generally good north-coast conditions, with visibility that is often decent and currents that can be present but usually manageable.

What makes Lost Anchor, Mauritius worth the boat trip?

It combines a coral-covered anchor, rocky humps, and a small cave pocket, so the dive feels like a compact route rather than a single-feature reef.

What wildlife is common at Lost Anchor, Mauritius?

Reef fish are the main draw here, especially jackfish, snapper, eagle rays, trumpetfish, and other macro life around the anchor and coral cover.

About Lost Anchor

Lost Anchor is a north Mauritius boat dive off Cap Malheureux for divers who want a compact reef-and-anchor profile with plenty of life in one pass. The site moves across coral-covered rock humps to a central anchor and a small pocket of gorgonians and sea fans, so the route feels varied without being sprawling. It suits guided, mid-depth planning more than casual shore hopping, and the best dives come on calmer north-coast days.
