Boat-access underwater cave with chambers and limestone formations.
Reached by boat from El Nido and best arranged with a local operator familiar with sea state at the cave entrance.
Paglugaban Cave is a boat-access underwater cave in the Miniloc area of Bacuit Bay, entered through a narrow sea-level opening that leads into a sequence of submerged passages, air chambers, haloclines, and large limestone rooms. Conditions are calmest in settled weather, but surge at the entrance and the overhead route make this a site for properly trained cave divers with disciplined gas planning and precise buoyancy.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
5m - 30m
Depth Note
Public descriptions split between the cave route and the wider Paglugaban reef area; cave descriptions place the main route around 12 m average with a max near 27-30 m, while broader site guides start shallower on the outer reef.
Best Season
Best planned in calmer months from November to May, with May to June often offering the best balance of calmer seas and stronger visibility around El Nido.
Typical Conditions
Outside plankton-heavy periods, visibility around El Nido is often about 15-25 m. Inside the cave current is limited, but the entrance can see swell or surge and access is weather-sensitive.

Safety Notes
This is an overhead environment with multiple chambers and a surge-sensitive entrance. Treat it as a cave dive requiring relevant training, redundant gas planning, controlled buoyancy, and a conservative exit margin if sea state changes.

Scuba Diving
The dive starts at a sea-level entrance and leads through a surfaceable first chamber, tighter passages deeper in, and large decorated rooms farther inside. The route is weather-sensitive and should be approached as a true cave dive rather than a casual swim-through.
