Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is the main international gateway for both regions. Its train station sits below the terminal, with rail connections toward The Hague and Haarlem, followed by tram or bus to the coast. Rotterdam The Hague Airport is a useful secondary airport for Scheveningen, linked to metro line E by bus 33.
Travelers from northern England can arrive directly in IJmuiden on DFDS's daily overnight Newcastle to Amsterdam route. The ferry terminal is in IJmuiden, despite the Amsterdam route name. A car is useful for cylinders, crates and early harbor calls, but city-center parking is less convenient than public transport. Confirm the exact boat berth before selecting accommodation.
Scheveningen is well linked to central The Hague by tram and bus, making a car unnecessary for ordinary sightseeing. Heavy dive gear changes the calculation: a taxi, operator transfer or nearby harbor hotel is more comfortable for a tide-timed departure.
