Australian Dollar (AUD)
Cards are widely accepted in town for accommodation, cafes, and supermarkets. Keep some cash for small purchases, park pay stations, and tips if you choose to give them.
ATMs are available in town and in larger nearby centers like Kempsey and Port Macquarie. If you are heading into national parks for the day, withdraw cash in advance.
230V • 50Hz • I
Australia uses Type I plugs. Most modern chargers are dual-voltage, but check your devices before plugging in.
Communications
Mobile coverage is generally good in town, but it can drop in parts of Arakoon and Hat Head national parks. Download offline maps before hikes. Australian eSIMs are widely available, and most accommodations provide Wi-Fi.
Langue
English is the primary language. The area is on Dunghutti Country, and you may see local cultural references and place names. Be respectful of cultural sites and follow any access guidance in parks.
Assurance
Carry standard travel insurance that covers driving and outdoor activities, plus dedicated dive accident cover if you are scuba diving or freediving offshore. DAN membership is a common option for dive-specific medical and evacuation support. If you are hiring a car, confirm excess and windscreen coverage because wildlife and highway driving are common.
