Quiet national park islands now, Koh Tao pinnacles next
Pick an activity mode to compare signature sites, skill fit, and gear planning notes before you lock your trip.
Chumphon delivers boat diving in a protected island national park, with a mix of shallow coral gardens, deeper reef slopes, sea caves, and a standout wreck. Dive days typically target Ko Ngam Yai and Ko Ngam Noi for coral and cave features, then add the HTMS Prab 741 wreck for a photogenic artificial reef dive. Conditions are often gentler than exposed open-ocean sites, but you can level up by connecting onward to Koh Tao for deeper pinnacles like Chumphon Pinnacle. Local operators such as Sensui Dive run trips and training with a low-crowd, local feel.

Deepwater coral reefs plus cave features, with soft corals, sea fans, and cavern swimthroughs.
A compact island with coral slopes and cavelike formations that reward careful buoyancy and light discipline.
Operator Checklist
Most Chumphon diving is by day boat. Book a day in advance in high Thai-holiday periods, and confirm whether your operator includes the national park fee. Bring cash for park entry and small purchases. If you plan to connect to Koh Tao, schedule a buffer day for weather because ferry and dive cancellations can stack during the northeast monsoon. Respect mooring lines and avoid anchoring on coral.
