Alghero-Fertilia Airport is the closest commercial airport and the natural gateway for an Alghero-first itinerary. The airport lies about 10 km from central Alghero and has a daily public bus to Via Catalogna. A direct airport-Stintino bus is seasonal from June 1 through September 30, so a rental car or prebooked transfer is more dependable outside that window. Travelers arriving with a vehicle from mainland Italy can also use overnight ferries to Porto Torres, then drive to Alghero or Stintino. For Asinara, the official public link runs from Porto Torres to Cala Reale, while authorized excursion and dive boats also operate from mainland ports including Stintino. Always anchor the day to the confirmed return sailing or operator schedule.
A rental car is the most practical way to combine Alghero, Capo Caccia, Stintino and Porto Torres, especially with equipment. Central Alghero itself is walkable and has daily airport bus service.
