Tide-timed wrecks, granite reefs, and privateer-coast adventures in northern Brittany

Saint-Malo is the primary gateway. Direct high-speed trains run from Paris, and regional rail connects through Rennes and Dol-de-Bretagne. The ferry port links with Portsmouth and, on scheduled services, the Channel Islands. Rennes Bretagne Airport is the practical scheduled-air gateway for many itineraries; Dinard Bretagne Airport is closer but currently emphasizes private and business aviation rather than a broad scheduled network.
For a dive-focused trip, collect a rental car in Rennes, Saint-Malo, or another confirmed location and keep the schedule flexible. Saint-Malo and Dinard can work without a car for town activities, but Saint-Briac, Saint-Lunaire, Saint-Cast, Cap Frehel, and scattered meeting points are much easier by road. Always reconfirm late-night arrival transport before booking a train or flight.
Saint-Malo has local MAT buses, a walkable walled center, taxis, and rail links. Regional trains and BreizhGo services connect major towns, but early dive check-ins, tanks, wet gear, and remote harbors make public transport awkward for a water-focused itinerary.
