Boarfish Reef is a boat-only temperate reef in the Sponge Gardens between Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale. It feels like a current-shaped maze of ledges, overhangs, swim-throughs, and sponge gardens rather than a flat reef, so the tide window matters as much as the site itself. When the slack water lines up, the site rewards slow diving and a close look at its blue devils, crayfish, nudibranchs, and other temperate reef life.
