Does Hobby have current or surge?

It is a sheltered fjord site, so wave exposure is limited, but local conditions should still be checked before entering.

The water is cold enough that a drysuit and proper thermal protection are standard choices.

How do I access Hobby?

Hobby is reached from the Svestad Brygge dive center area. The wreck itself is deep technical diving only, so plan accordingly.

Is there much aquatic life at Hobby?

Yes, but it is cold-water wreck life rather than a tropical reef. Look for cod, crabs, lobsters, shrimps, gobies, nudibranchs, and seaweed.

What certification do I need for Hobby?

Hobby is a technical wreck dive. You should be qualified for the depth, gas planning, and ascent procedures the site demands.

What facilities are available near Hobby?

The Svestad dive center area includes showers, toilets, air and nitrox filling, a lounge, an indoor pool, and nearby accommodation.

What is the entry like at Hobby?

The site is shore-accessed from the dive center area, but the dive itself is a serious deep wreck profile rather than a simple recreational swim.

What will I see at Hobby?

Expect an upright fishing boat wreck with cold-water structure, steel and wood details, and a classic fjord wreck setting.

Deep, shore-accessed wreck near a well-equipped Oslofjord dive center, best suited to technical teams in cold-water gear.

About Hobby

Hobby is an intentionally sunk fishing boat wreck outside Svestad pier. It rests upright on its keel in cold Oslofjord water and is best treated as a technical wreck dive: a deep profile, clear wreck structure, and cold-water marine life for qualified teams. The site sits in a well-supported fjord dive area, so the logistics are shore-based even though the wreck itself is firmly in the deep end.
