Beacon Point is a boat-only Similan Islands dive on the south tip of Island 8, built around granite boulders, hard coral, and large sea fans that carry the site from shallow ledges into deeper water. It works best as a guided boat dive for divers who are comfortable with a deeper profile and changing current, because the point can feel more exposed than the calmer reef banks nearby. The payoff is a classic mix of reef structure, rays, reef sharks, ribbon eels, and dense tropical fish across a genuinely multi-level route.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
10m - 40m
Depth Note
The main point starts on shallow boulders and commonly runs to about 40m; the eastward continuation toward Beacon Reef can go deeper.
Best Season
Mid-October through mid-May, with November to April usually the most stable window.
Typical Conditions
Deeper east-side point dive with boulders, hard coral, gorgonians, clear water, and stronger current than calmer reef banks.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Treat Beacon Point as a deeper boat dive with moving water and steady buoyancy demands. Keep the group in sight around the boulders and reef edge.
Access Restrictions
Boat access only from Similan liveaboard or day-trip operators; no shore entry or on-island dive gear.
Legal Notes
Mu Ko Similan National Park closes annually from May 1 to October 31, so trips need to fall in the open season.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
A multi-level boat dive that starts just below the surface and can run to the deeper outer point. Buoyancy, air management, and an easy descent matter more than raw depth.
