When to go

Best time to visit Honduras

Honduras is easiest to plan from March through August, especially for Bay Islands diving and snorkeling.

Best overall window

March - August

Bay Islands water around 27°C to 29°C, usually strong visibility, and the easiest national planning window

Outside that window

Warm water around 29°C to 30°C, often stronger wind on exposed coasts, sheltered southside plans still productive

Choose your trip style

Start with the overall answer, then switch only when scuba, freedive, snorkel, or topside timing changes the trip in a meaningful way.

Always true for this destination
  • Roatan and Utila still operate well in winter, but northfacing sites are less predictable.
Seasonal cautions
  • Jul to Aug: Warm water around 29°C to 30°C, often stronger wind on exposed coasts, sheltered south-side plans still productive
  • Sep to Nov: Very warm water, but the highest tropical-system and sea-state uncertainty for inter-island travel
  • Dec to Feb: Air often around 25°C to 27°C, with winter northers that can reshape daily site choices
