What It Feels Like

Ajaccio and Propriano cover an unusually broad Corsican scuba ladder. Around Ajaccio, Isula Plongee advertises more than 20 exploration sites from the Iles Sanguinaires, while Porticcio and Port Tino Rossi operators handle first dives, training, Nitrox, rocky reefs, the P51 Mustang, La Campanina, and E Sette Nave. In Valinco, Propriano Plongee and Porto Pollo Plongee reach Les Cathedrales, Petite and Grande Vallee, Sec de la Tour, and deeper grouper walls on short day boats. The attraction is not a single trophy site but the progression from shallow granite and Posidonia to arches, gorgonian walls, black coral, wreck history, and current-exposed depth. Weather and diver level determine the exact site, so book the operator and experience category rather than insisting on one fixed location.

Signature Sites

Start Here

Plage du Mancinu
A shallow Propriano shore entry over rock and Posidonia, generally within about 9 m, suited to first dives, skills refreshers, and mixed scubasnorkel days.

Advanced

La Campanina
A signature Ajaccio boat dive with rocky dropoffs, arches, and a cave line.
P51 Mustang Wreck
A visible fighter fuselage on sand at roughly 19 m, combining accessible depth, aviation history, and marine growth without requiring a deep technical profile.
E Sette Nave
Rocky relief, arches, caves, and walls extend from shallow water toward about 40 m.

Operator Checklist

Choose a base-specific operator: Ajaccio or Porticcio for the Gulf of Ajaccio and Iles Sanguinaires, Propriano or Porto Pollo for Valinco, and Campomoro for the southwest edge. Send certification level, recent dive count, last-dive date, and equipment needs before booking. Reserve July and August departures early, but keep the requested site flexible because captains may swap for wind, swell, visibility, current, or group ability. Ask whether Nitrox, large cylinders, private guides, and transport are available. Carry proof of certification and any medical documentation requested by the training organization.
