The most practical low-carbon route is a mainline train to Perpignan, then a regional coastal train to Port-Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer, or Cerbere. France's coastal railway also makes Banyuls and Cerbere easy to combine without changing accommodation. Regional bus line 540 links Perpignan and Cerbere through the coast, though schedules and luggage practicality should be checked. Drivers use the D914 from Perpignan and continue south toward the Spanish border. The nearest airport is Perpignan, while Girona and Barcelona provide broader international alternatives with longer road or rail transfers.
Regional trains are the backbone of car-free travel, serving Collioure, Port-Vendres, Banyuls-sur-Mer, Cerbere, and cross-border Portbou. Bus line 540 supplements the railway.
