Roman ports, protected wrecks, and clear limestone coves across Croatia's northern Adriatic peninsula
Pick an activity mode to compare signature sites, skill fit, and gear planning notes before you lock your trip.
Istria is strongest for divers who want variety rather than one repeated reef. Rovinj operators such as Morski Puz combine the Banjol caverns and San Giovanni reefs with protected wreck days, while Pula bases reach Brijuni, Cape Kamenjak, and the southern wreck field. Porec adds shallow training reefs and compact boat rides; Diving Rabac accesses Kvarner walls, rock gates, caves, and Lina. The result is a land-based itinerary that can start with a check dive in a sheltered cove, progress through reefs and night dives, and finish with a carefully qualified wreck profile.
Istria's defining protected wreck lies roughly between 28 m and 39 m.
Three linked cavern environments and an outer reef create one of Rovinj's most distinctive nonwreck dives.
A compact advanced wreck in the Rovinj zone, commonly profiled around 30 m to 35 m.
Operator Checklist
Book advanced wrecks before arrival and send certification level, logged-dive count, last-dive date, gas preferences, and equipment needs. Centers commonly require a check dive before Baron Gautsch or another deep wreck. Ask exactly what the quoted price includes: cylinder, weights, guide, protected-site license, boat, Nitrox, and rental pieces may be separated. Build a weather-flex day into multi-wreck plans. Do not plan a cross-peninsula transfer immediately after an exhausting deep dive, and preserve an appropriate no-fly interval after the final scuba profile.
