Scuba here is defined by Atlantic wrecks and local tide knowledge. Le Nautilus departs Saint-Martin-de-Re in summer, IO Plongee works from La Cotiniere, Les Joyeux Corsaires uses the natural cove at Chaucre, and Sam Diving reaches Re, Aix and Oleron from Soubise. The portfolio spans shallow discovery water and Level 1 wrecks to offshore sites around 30 m to 40 m. Expect anemone-covered steel, rocky ledges, conger eels, crustaceans, nudibranchs, octopus and occasional rays. This is a destination for divers who accept flexible schedules, variable visibility and site changes in exchange for history-rich, uncrowded temperate diving.

Operator Checklist
Reserve by operator and level, not by a guaranteed wreck. Send certification details and medical paperwork before arrival, and ask whether the center recognizes your agency equivalency. Le Nautilus lists summer exploration from June through September and asks divers to bring their own gear, including a 7mm suit, although limited club loan equipment may be available. Sam Diving supplies cylinders but states that divers should bring weights, thermal protection and a delayed surface marker buoy. IO Plongee publishes separate guided, autonomous, equipment-rental and offshore supplements. Keep at least one weather-flex day and avoid a tight flight or train connection after the final dive.
