Three Tuscan seascapes, one flexible Mediterranean dive journey
Pick an activity mode to compare signature sites, skill fit, and gear planning notes before you lock your trip.
This is a boat-diving circuit with enough range for a progressive week. Argentario Divers and other Porto Santo Stefano operators serve sheltered Monte Argentario coves, Giglio's granite reefs and the regulated waters of Giannutri. A first day can stay conservative at Cala dei Santi, followed by offshore structure at Scoglio del Corallo, deeper Giglio shoals, and finally a Giannutri wall or wreck when conditions and qualifications align.
The best recreational dives combine rocky relief with gorgonians, red-coral crevices, Posidonia and classic Mediterranean fish life. Depth can build quickly on walls, so the destination rewards good buoyancy, disciplined gas planning and an honest certification match. Technical divers can request deeper wreck and wall profiles, but these are separate objectives requiring gases, decompression planning and an operator that explicitly supports the plan.
A Giannutri objective known for wall relief, gorgonians and concentrated fish life.
A compact Monte Argentario offshore rock with a shallow crest, canyonlike relief, arches and redcoral crevices.
A sheltered Monte Argentario option with Posidonia, rocky walls and a small cave feature.
A Giannutri wall where the shallow setup gives way to deeper coralligenous terrain.
Operator Checklist
Book a multi-day package with a mainland operator, but keep the island order flexible. Ask which days target Argentario, Giglio and Giannutri, what minimum certification applies, whether nitrox is included, and whether technical gases need advance notice. Do not build the trip around one exposed site.
For Giannutri, verify the current park decision immediately before travel. Zone 1 remains closed. The 25 February 2026 notice allows scuba temporarily only in Zone 2 and states that no authorized park buoy field is operating. The skipper remains responsible for a lawful, habitat-safe boat plan. Avoid touching gorgonians, entering unplanned overheads, or using Posidonia as an anchoring area.
