Three Tuscan seascapes, one flexible Mediterranean dive journey

Most international travelers arrive through Rome Fiumicino, then continue north to Porto Santo Stefano by rental car or by rail and bus. The useful rail station is Orbetello-Monte Argentario. Trenitalia's Argentario Link combines the train journey with a bus connection to Porto Santo Stefano, where ferries and many dive boats depart.
Pisa is a workable alternative for travelers already touring Tuscany, but the road transfer is longer. There are no commercial airports on Giglio or Giannutri. The ferry crossing from Porto Santo Stefano to Giglio is about one hour. Giannutri also takes roughly one hour by line service or excursion vessel, with a thinner timetable outside the warm season. Always check the live schedule and sea forecast rather than relying on a seasonal summary.
A rental car is useful on the mainland for Porto Ercole, Orbetello, beaches and accommodation outside Porto Santo Stefano. Port parking can fill in summer, so reserve where possible or use rail plus the Argentario Link bus.
