Most international and domestic travelers route through Perth Airport (PER). From Perth or Fremantle, Rottnest Island (Wadjemup) is a straightforward ferry day trip, and many dive charters also depart from Fremantle.

Fremantle to Rottnest (Thomson Bay Jetty): about 25-30 minutes depending on operator and departure point.
Hillarys Boat Harbour to Rottnest: about 45 minutes.
Perth CBD (Barrack Street Jetty) to Rottnest: up to about 90 minutes.
