Season planner for Revillagigedo (Socorro Islands)
CONANP lists the tourist season for scuba diving in Revillagigedo as November to June, with daytime schedules around 07:00-18:00. Most liveaboards follow this window because July to October overlaps with the eastern Pacific hurricane season (May 15 to November 30) and can bring rougher seas for the long crossing. Within the main season, winter and spring tend to deliver the most consistent big-animal diving. Expect water temperatures spanning roughly 20°C to 28°C depending on month, with occasional thermoclines.

Activity Drilldowns
OverallNovember to May·Crowd:Moderate·Cost:Premium
Ideal: Most consistent liveaboard operations and sea state, with frequent manta and shark encounters.
Plan Carefully: Hotter, more humid months with higher storm risk. Many operators pause or reduce schedules.
Because access is liveaboardonly, availability is driven by boat schedules more than hotels.
ScubaNovember to May·Crowd:Moderate·Cost:Premium
Ideal: Best mix of calmer seas and pelagic density. Mantas are frequent, and humpbacks may be seen in the region in winter.
Plan Carefully: Hurricane season. Liveaboards often do not run, or run limited departures.
Bring exposure protection for long repetitive diving.
FreediveNovember to April·Crowd:Low·Cost:Premium
Ideal: Best chance of calm-enough conditions for supervised snorkeling or apnea sessions during a scuba liveaboard itinerary.
Plan Carefully: Storm season. For dedicated freediving, consider La Paz or other Baja sites instead.
Most visitors freedive here as a bonus activity, not as the main trip purpose.
SnorkelNovember to April·Crowd:Low·Cost:Premium
Ideal: Best chance of calmer seas for optional snorkel sessions on a liveaboard.
Plan Carefully: Hurricane season. Plan snorkeling in Baja bays instead of offshore Revillagigedo.
If snorkeling is your priority, Socorro should be a secondary bonus.
TopsideDecember to April·Crowd:High·Cost:Moderate
Ideal: Comfortable weather in Los Cabos for staging, recovery, and day trips.
Plan Carefully: Hot, humid, and overlaps with hurricane season. Keep plans flexible and watch forecasts.
Holiday periods in Los Cabos can raise prices even if liveaboard availability is unchanged.
