When to go
Rhodes works best when you separate the island's underwater and topside seasons.
Best overall window
Dry, bright, and generally comfortable, with warmenough water for most divers and manageable topside heat.
Outside that window
Cooler, wetter, and quieter, best for Old Town, villages, and opportunistic local diving rather than a divefirst trip.
Start with the overall answer, then switch only when scuba, freedive, snorkel, or topside timing changes the trip in a meaningful way.

Warmseason dives around Kalithea, Ladiko, and other rocky sites commonly feature bream, damselfish, pipefish, octopus, moray eels, and small cryptic life.
Marine Park Larger-Fish Chances
Best for Scuba

Marine Park routes near restricted fishing areas and fishfarm structure can improve odds of grouper, barracuda, tuna, rays, and occasional dolphin sightings, though none are guaranteed.
Meltemi Wind Season
Best for Scuba, Snorkel, Freedive, Topside

The Aegean meltemi can build afternoon wind and surface chop, especially in July and August.
