Cold-water lake skills, flooded mine history and forested reservoir weekends
Pick an activity mode to compare signature sites, skill fit, and gear planning notes before you lock your trip.
Scuba here is about contrast and progression. At Bergwerk Nuttlar, qualified overhead divers enter a flooded slate labyrinth, while a controlled cavern taster is available to suitable Open Water divers under an instructor. Sorpesee Summer Site and Sorpesee Winter Site keep local freshwater training viable across the calendar. Biggesee adds Weuste for Open Water divers, Kraghammer Sattel for advanced club members, and Kalberschnacke for shallow summer fish encounters. Tauchschule Sauerland connects the circuit with registrations, fills, rental and guiding.
The regulated coldseason site keeps Sorpesee diving active from October through April under the current pilot schedule.
The summer site is the easiest Sorpesee base for skills, local guiding and repeat freshwater dives from May through September.
Listertalsperre Kalberschnacke
A shallower profile to about 12 m with the operator's best window from June through September.
The signature dive is a flooded slate mine with about 12 km of submerged workings on two lower levels.
