Zandeiland 4 at Vinkeveense Plassen is the region's most usable first stop: Airdiving handles permits, fills and rentals beside a protected training zone containing a bus, boats and other objects. After orientation, Eiland 5 and Eiland 12 add quieter peat and wildlife terrain, while Spiegelpolder delivers deeper, darker freshwater navigation. The sites are generally current-free, but thermoclines, silt, cold and recreational boat traffic make discipline more important than the calm surface suggests.
The destination's anchor site has a {{ 180 | distance:m }} by {{ 120 | distance:m }} official dive zone, easy shore facilities and an underwater trail linking a fullsize bus, small vessels, a dredger and training objects.
A quieter alternative near Zandeiland 4, known for peat walls, small wrecks, vegetation and good wildlife searching around roughly {{ 6 | distance:m }}.
Boat access opens a less crowded northern setting with musselcovered bottom, sand channels, peat edges, large pike and pikeperch.
Operator Checklist
Buy and attach the Zandeiland 4 token before entering; it applies to every diver and freediver using the zone. Arrive early on fair-weather weekends because parking and entry space fill quickly. Reserve rental gear and unusual cylinder or gas requirements with Airdiving in advance. Bring filled cylinders to Spiegelplas unless a separate fill plan is confirmed. Boat-only island dives require a suitable vessel or local arrangement. Do not dive in shipping routes, harbors, moorings, near bridges or locks, or in fast-boat and water-ski zones. Use a surface marker outside dedicated dive areas.
