Scuba
What It Feels Like
Yasawa scuba is best understood as relaxed resort diving with a few high-impact specialties. The central islands around Drawaqa, Naviti, and Nanuya Balavu deliver coral gardens, walls, caverns, schooling reef fish, turtles, wrecks, and manta-season surface intervals. Mantaray Island Resort and Barefoot Manta are the strongest reef-and-training hubs, while Barefoot Kuata gives certified divers a southern Yasawa shark-dive option. This is not a current-heavy destination every day, but it is also not only easy lagoon diving. The right site selection matters: Open Water divers can enjoy shallow reefs such as Garden of Eden, while deeper wrecks, night dives, shark dives, and exposed walls suit Advanced Open Water divers with good buoyancy and current awareness.
Signature Sites
Start Here
A colorful Naviti reef with an easy top around {{ 5 | distance:m }} and a bottom near {{ 19 | distance:m }}, known for accessible coral scenery, minimal current on good days, and alllevel photo potential.
Barefoot Kuata's managed shark experience near the southern Yasawas can include bull sharks and reef sharks, adding a biganimal day to an otherwise reefled itinerary.
The channel itself is a guided snorkel and freedive highlight, but the surrounding Drawaqa and Naviti reefs make the area an efficient base for divers who want mantaseason surface action plus local coral dives.
Advanced
A scuttled longliner near Naviti with a maximum depth around {{ 24 | distance:m }}, giving certified divers a manageable wreck profile close to Barefoot Manta's central Yasawa dive zone.
The deeper partner to Glory, reaching roughly {{ 32 | distance:m }} and best for Advanced Open Water divers who are comfortable with depth, descent discipline, and nodecompression planning.
Planning Playbook
Operator Checklist
- Book around the island you actually want to dive. Mantaray Island Resort and Barefoot Manta suit central Yasawa reefs, wrecks, and manta-season snorkeling; Barefoot Kuata is the better add-on for shark diving; Blue Lagoon and northern resorts suit caves and lighter reef days. Pre-book ferry transfers and dive days together, because resort stops use tenders and late itinerary changes can be awkward. Operators may require proof of certification, dive insurance that covers scuba, and medical clearance for conditions such as asthma or epilepsy. Build at least one non-dive day before flying from Nadi.
