Shark Bay is the calm, shallow side of Broulee Island, reached by a short shore walk from Harbour Drive and best on settled days.

About Shark Bay

Shark Bay is the sheltered south side of Broulee Island, reached by a short walk from Harbour Drive. A permanent sandbar ties the island to the mainland, leaving a shallow bay with seagrass on the flats, rocky edges, and a sandy lagoon that stays friendly for beginner snorkellers when the sea is calm. On settled days it is an easy place to drift over the shallows, work the reef edges, and watch local fish and rays move through clear water. It is best treated as a slow shore snorkel rather than a hard swim, and the sheltered edge of the bay is usually the easiest place to spend time in the water.

Snorkeling

Shark Bay is the easiest snorkel on the Broulee Island side: shallow, sheltered, and best when the water is flat and the wind is light.
