Pločica boat dive with a gorgonian garden.
Pločica boat dive with a gorgonian garden.
The site is normally reached on a guided dive boat from Vis harbour.
Pločica is a boat-access reef off the northwestern edge of Vis, where a north-side buoy marks the usual mooring and the site opens onto a shallow platform, rock formations, and a deeper gorgonian garden. The main draw is the fan-coral slope with moray eels, crawfish, and occasional open-water life, so it suits divers who are comfortable planning around current and depth changes.
Site Conditions
Safety Notes
Use tight buoyancy around the gorgonian fans and plan for a current-prone north face before you commit to the mooring buoy.
Access Restrictions
The north-side buoy is the normal mooring point, and current can make the dive more operator-led than free-form.
Legal Notes
Follow the dive-center plan and local Vis access rules.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
The shallow north side gives way to deeper fan-coral growth, with the main garden building from the low twenties into the thirties.
Freediving
Freediving is not ideal because the main garden sits deep and the current can be significant.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling only works around the shallow rocks; the gorgonian garden is a scuba target.
