About Varese
The Varese is an Italian merchant steamship that sank in 1915 after striking a mine while trying to reach shelter near Pula during bad weather. The explosion destroyed the ship’s prow, and the wreck lies at the sinking location today. Divers can encounter a range of fish life around the site, including scorpionfish, schools of bream, and other smaller fish, with possible sightings of conger eels and lobsters.
