A famous freshwater cave emergence with easy access and serious overhead diving.
A famous freshwater cave emergence with easy access and serious overhead diving.
Emergence du Ressel is a classic freshwater cave emergence in the Cele valley near Marcilhac-sur-Cele. Easy parking and a short walk hide a serious overhead environment with long passages, a shallow start, and a much deeper cave system beyond the entrance. Conditions change fast after rain, so local checks matter for trained cave divers.
Site Conditions
Safety Notes
Reserved for experienced divers due to the depth and underground environment.
Access Restrictions
Reserved for experienced divers.
Legal Notes
Free public access is listed, but this is an overhead cave dive. Check conditions before entry and do not go when rain has pushed flow inward.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
Use this as a cave dive, not an open-water swim. Plan line discipline, redundant gas, and a conservative turnaround.
Freediving
Not suitable for freediving; the overhead cave environment and changing flow make scuba cave training the right fit.
Snorkeling
Not a snorkel site; the usable dive lies inside an overhead cave system.
