Relitto Mohawk Deer
The Mohawk Deer is a merchant-ship wreck that ran aground on the Portofino Promontory in 1967 after a strong gale snapped the tow line while it was being pulled toward La Spezia. Today the wreck serves as shelter for fish life, with larger species using the interior spaces and schools of smaller fish gathering around the structure.
Hazards
Safety notes
The wreck contains interior spaces that can create an overhead environment; plan dives to avoid entering enclosed areas without appropriate training and equipment. The site history indicates exposure to strong weather, so conditions may be affected by waves.
