Sheltered Gozo arch, cavern, and wall dive
Sheltered Gozo arch, cavern, and wall dive
Dawra Tas-Sanap is a sheltered Gozo boat dive with a shallow reef, a natural arch, a cavern, and a steep wall that gives the site a lot of shape. It is a good choice for photographers and divers who like colorful reef growth, boulders, and the feeling of working along a headland rather than making a straight out-and-back pass. The dive is easy to enjoy, but the cavern and cliff face still reward careful buoyancy and attention to surge.

Depth range, seasonality, and planning context.
Reported Depth
8m - 65m
Depth Note
The boat anchors on a shallow reef around 8m, the main route starts around 15 to 18m on the wall, and the site continues much deeper beyond the arch.
Best Season
Year-round
Typical Conditions
A sheltered inlet with a shallow reef, a natural arch, a cavern, and a vertical wall. The site is calm enough for all-level enjoyment, but the cave features keep it serious.
Hazards, restrictions, and access requirements.
Key Hazards
Safety Notes
Watch the cavern and short passage carefully, keep buoyancy tight around the cliff face, and expect surge if the sea picks up.
Access Restrictions
Boat-only access from Xlendi; not a casual shore-entry site.
Legal Notes
Follow boat-charter guidance and treat the cavern as an overhead space if you enter it.
Community notes to help plan your visit.
Scuba Diving
The dive works around the wall, boulders, arch, and cavern, with enough shape to keep the route interesting without forcing a drift profile.
Freediving
Not a freedive-first site. The cavern, wall, and boat setup make scuba the sensible choice.
Snorkeling
Snorkeling is not the main use here; the route and features are built around scuba exploration.
