Gozo is the Maltese island that most cleanly blends serious diving with an easy holiday rhythm. Base in Victoria, Marsalforn, or Xlendi and you can be at Dwejra's Blue Hole, the Cathedral Cave area at Ghasri, the Xatt l-Ahmar wreck zone, or a relaxed bay like Mgarr ix-Xini in one short drive. Underwater, the draw is not coral but geology: arches, chimneys, caverns, tunnels, walls, and clear water that flatters wide-angle photography. Above water, the pace slows down into Citadel walks, Ggantija's prehistoric stones, salt pans, chapels, and long lunches by the sea. Gozo works especially well for mixed groups because divers, snorkelers, freedivers, hikers, and history lovers can all have strong days without huge logistics.
