Surfplas Nijstad kleine plas is one of two lakes in the Nijstad recreation area near Hoogeveen. Diving here is managed and monitored by a local dive operator, and access is limited to divers who pre-register. The lake is known for dense underwater plant growth, schools of whitefish, and predators that hide in the vegetation, while an underwater park is still being built.
