Old Wharf is a Kaikoura shore reef dive entered from a disused ramp area and followed out toward rocky habitat marked by a visible buoy reference. Divers visit for easy local access, reef life close to shore, and the chance to find blue moki, octopus, and plenty of crayfish around the structure. It works best as a simple shore dive with careful surface awareness rather than as a long offshore swim.
