Haylee's Hideout is a nearshore Kaikoura rock-pile dive where multiple channels create a compact but interesting reef layout just offshore from the beach. Divers visit for cold-water sponge growth, kelp, native anemones, and the way the cracks and cuts in the rock structure collect feeding life in a relatively small area. It works best as a calm, close-to-shore reef dive that rewards careful route choice through the channels rather than chasing wide open-water scenery.
