Baltic wrecks, forest lakes and Alpine shores, with a cold-water adventure for every season
Where you stay shapes the trip. Compare the setting, seasons and local transport before choosing your accommodation.
Cold-water walls, freshwater wreck details, and Alpine shore days within reach of Munich
Starnberger See is the easier car-free lake. Rail serves Starnberg, Possenhofen, Feldafing, Tutzing, and other nearby points, and passenger boats can supplement walking or cycling when their stops operate.
Cold-water lake diving, clear charophyte habitat, and historic wrecks within reach of Berlin
Use public transport for Straussee and a car for a full three-lake itinerary. Rural bus frequency can be limited, particularly evenings, weekends, and outside summer.
Cold-water Baltic discovery from Fehmarn wrecks to Kiel reefs and Luebeck Bay shallows
A car is strongly recommended for dive gear, early shore entries, wind-driven coast changes, and Fehmarn's spread-out sites. Kiel and Luebeck work well without a car for city days.
Cold, clear quarry diving through Germany's submerged industrial history
Rail reaches Hemmoor, but a car is easiest for dive logistics. Parking is available around most entries and handcarts can be rented.
Cold-water walls, freshwater life, and Alpine horizons on one border-crossing lake
Regional trains, buses, passenger boats, the Konstanz-Meersburg ferry, and the Konstanz-Friedrichshafen catamaran make a car-free sightseeing trip realistic. Some German-shore accommodations issue the Echt Bodensee Card for local public transport, subject to municipality and host rules.
Cold-water lake adventures, quarry depth, and Leipzig culture in one flexible land-based trip
Central Leipzig has strong tram, bus, and S-Bahn coverage. Kulkwitzer See is one of the easiest lake days without a car: official visitor guidance describes S1 to Miltitzer Allee followed by a walk, with additional bus and tram approaches.
Cold-water clarity, four wrecks, and a sunken city at the gateway to the Harz
A car is the practical default. It simplifies airport arrival, the last leg from Nordhausen, cylinders, camping equipment, and side trips into the Harz.
Cold-water wrecks, chalk reefs, and Baltic maritime culture from Cape Arkona to Warnemünde
Rostock and Warnemünde are well connected by S-Bahn, tram, regional rail, bus, and the Warnow ferry. Overnight visitors who pay Rostock's current visitor tax receive a GuestCard that includes much of the Verkehrsverbund Warnow network, with stated exclusions such as ferries and bicycle carriage.
Cold-water lake skills, flooded mine history and forested reservoir weekends
Use a car for the dive program. Nuttlar check-in is on Briloner Strasse in Bestwig, the Sorpesee shop is in Sundern, and the Biggesee shop is near Olpe.
Germany's offshore red rock, where protected North Sea nature outranks easy access
The main island is designed around walking. Private motor vehicles are generally prohibited, and ordinary bicycle use is restricted under the island's special traffic rules.
