Lava reefs, archaeological dives and two marine parks under Etna's skyline

Catania Fontanarossa Airport is the primary gateway for all four clusters. It is closest to Aci Castello and Aci Trezza, practical for Giardini Naxos and Taormina, and connected south toward Syracuse. Comiso Airport can work for the southeast when its schedule matches, but it is less convenient for the Taormina and Cyclops half. A rental car provides the most resilient split-base plan. Rail and coach services can connect major towns, but dive boats, MPA access points and early departures often require a transfer or taxi. Catania operations can be affected by Etna ash, so monitor the official airport and airline before travel.
A car is the most practical tool for a four-cluster itinerary, but restricted traffic zones, stairs and limited parking make it a liability inside Taormina and Ortigia. Book accommodation with clear parking, leave the vehicle outside historic centers and walk.
