When To Go

Season planner for Grenada

Grenada offers genuine year round diving and snorkeling, with subtle shifts between the drier and wetter seasons. January to April tend to be slightly cooler and drier, with calmer seas and clearer water, making this the classic high season. From June through November the island becomes greener and more humid, and late summer into autumn can see reduced visibility at times when river outflow reaches the southern Caribbean. Grenada sits near the southern edge of the main hurricane belt, so direct hits are less common than farther north, but late August to October still deserve flexible planning and travel insurance.

Ideal: Often the best balance of calm seas, 20 m plus visibility, and low rainfall, ideal for wrecks and longer multi day packages.

Plan Carefully: Expect higher humidity, squalls, and occasional visibility drops. Tropical systems can disrupt ferry and flight schedules.

If your focus is deep wrecks and crisp viz, favor February to May and aim dives for morning slack tides.

Ideal: Typically calm seas on the west coast, clear water, and less intense midday heat, ideal for the sculpture park and Flamingo Bay.

Plan Carefully: Occasional swell and murkier water can limit site choices; operators shift to the most protected coves.

Cruise ship days see more boat traffic at the sculpture park, especially in high season.

Ideal: Generally drier with cooler nights, making hikes and waterfall trails more comfortable and less muddy.

Plan Carefully: Hottest, most humid period with heavier showers and muddy trails; festivals add atmosphere but also crowds and higher prices.

Schedule ambitious hikes for early in the day when temperatures are lower, especially from June onward.
