Limestone walls, pine-framed coves, and fast boat access from Hvar Town

Most international visitors fly to Split Airport (SPU), continue by road to Split ferry port, then cross to Hvar. Passenger-only fast vessels run directly to Hvar Town on seasonal schedules, while the year-round Jadrolinija vehicle ferry goes from Split to Stari Grad in about 2 hours. Hvar Town is then roughly a 20-minute drive from the Stari Grad terminal. A second vehicle route links Drvenik with Sucuraj at Hvar's eastern end, followed by about a 90-minute island drive to Hvar Town.
The direct Split-to-Hvar passenger crossing is commonly around 50 to 65 minutes depending on carrier and route. Timetables change by season and bad weather can delay, reroute, or cancel sailings. Buy the exact dated ticket from the carrier, distinguish Hvar Town from Stari Grad, and leave margin between flight and final vessel. Hvar has no scheduled commercial airport that replaces the sea transfer.
Hvar Town's historic core is pedestrian and best handled on foot. Taxis, local buses, rental cars, scooters, and bicycles connect Hvar Town with Stari Grad, Jelsa, central-island villages, and beaches, but timetables and vehicle availability become tighter in peak summer and thinner in winter.
