When To Go

Season planner for Koh Phi Phi (Phi Phi Islands)

Phi Phi is a year-round destination, but conditions change with Thailand's monsoon cycle. November to April is typically the calmest window for ferries, snorkeling, and clearer water. May to October is wetter and can be windier, with rougher crossings and occasional cancellations. If your priority is underwater visibility and easy boat logistics, bias toward December to April. If your priority is fewer crowds and you can stay flexible, shoulder and wet-season trips can still work with a conservative itinerary.

Ideal: Better visibility and calmer bays, ideal for families and first-time snorkelers.

Plan Carefully: Surface chop can reduce visibility and comfort. Many days are still snorkelable, but route choice matters.

If seas are choppy, switch to calm lagoons and nearshore reefs instead of exposed island corners.
